Fire crews rushed to tackle a fire - only to realise it was actually a light display.
A crew from Witney Fire Station responded to reports from Field Assarts near Leafield of a fire being spotted in an open field.
After searching the local area, they discovered the cause of alarm was actually an illumination display on an oak tree in Ramsden, a village five miles away.
Sharing pictures on Twitter, Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted: "Sometimes we have calls that bring a smile to our faces."
They added: "Although the colours are now purple in the picture they did all start as yellow, with the low cloud levels this did have the crews convinced there was a significant fire somewhere."
And they said: "If ever you think there is a fire, you must call it in, even if it turns out to be nothing, we would rather attend early to intervene sooner."
