POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a dog was stolen from the garden of a home in Abingdon Road, Oxford.

Between 10.45am and 11am on Wednesday, a five-month-old British Bulldog-Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross called Roxy was taken from the garden of a house near the Donnington Bridge junction.

PC Rebecca Froud, of Oxford police, said: "The owner spoke to two elderly ladies standing at the nearby bus stop on the side of the road going into Oxford.

"They told him a man had gone into the garden and taken Roxy and driven away in a white van with orange or yellow markings. We have not been able to trace these ladies and I would very much like to talk to them.

"If anyone else saw this incident last Wednesday morning, I would also be very keen to speak to them.

"Roxy has been micro-chipped, so if anyone finds a dog that looks like her, please take her to any vet, the RSPCA or the Blue Cross where she can be identified."

PC Froud can be contacted via the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505.
