Passers-by pleaded with a lorry driver to stop as the wheels of his refuse truck crushed a student cyclist, a trial was told.
Tsz Fok, 22, was killed at the junction of Broad Street and Parks Road in Oxford last April.
A trial at Wantage Magistrates' Court today heard Trevor Ashworth, 31, failed to spot Mr Fok as he turned left into Parks Road while the university student tried to cycle across the junction.
Ashworth, of Theale in Berkshire, denies a charge of driving without due care and attention.
Gavin Hernandez, prosecuting, said Mr Fok's bike and Ashworth's truck pulled way from the traffic lights at the same time, but Ashworth failed to check his blind spot before turning.
Mr Hernandez read out a statement by witness Heather Field, which said: "At the same moment I saw the cyclist go across the front of the lorry.
"The lorry hit the cyclist and I saw him fall off. I then saw the lorry driver keep going and I shouted at the driver to stop.
"I saw the man on the bike go under the wheels. The tyre went straight across his body."
She saw the truck travel a few more feet then stop.
Mr Hernandez said Ashworth had been checking his satellite navigation equipment and been on his mobile phone shortly before the death.
The trial continues.
