Mothers and elderly people have easier access to Oxford city centre following a £24,000 bus service revamp.
The Oxford Bus Company has changed the livery and made it easier to get on and off six out of 10 of its buses operating on the City4 route between the city centre and Rose Hill.
Each of the improved Mercedes Citaro buses had a £4,000 overhaul.
The new-look buses were fitted with low-floor access, which means they can be lowered to kerb level to allow wheelchair users and mothers with buggies to board them more easily.
The livery depicting the City4 route has also been made more distinctive to make the buses more easily identifiable.
The buses were 'unveiled' by former Lord Mayor and estate resident Bill Buckingham, in The Oval, today.
Mr Buckingham said: "The improved services and low-floor buses are a real boost for Rose Hill. The Oxford Bus Company's faith in the area is extremely welcome.
"Accessibility has been quite a big issue - there are quite a lot of mothers that use the bus.
"If they've got a buggy and a couple of kids they have had to wait for a Stagecoach bus.
"The mums that I've come into contact with at the community centre have all welcomed it."
Bus company director Louisa Weeks said the buses were revamped following requests from city councillors to improve accessibility for elderly people in Rose Hill.
She said: "They look great. They really stand out. We've been listening to people in the Rose Hill area and have paid special attention to their needs.
"We're delighted we've been able to revamp the City4 service and give the people in the area the best buses available."
Rose Hill councillor Ed Turner said: "A number of people have raised this issue with me in the past.
"This is another small improvement - it's one of those things that should help people a little bit."
