The site is off the B4510 across the road from OXSRAD the Oxford City Football Club.
Travellers have moved on to a site in Marsh Lane in Marston.
A resident said the group of around 20 caravans arrived at the Showman Field on Marsh Lane on Monday evening.
The previous day the field was used as an overflow car park for a Marston Saints football club event.
The site is adjoining the Court Place Farm allotments.
Thames Valley Police confirmed they had been informed but since the land is privately owned an attempt to move them from the site would require the landowner to direct them to leave.
Oxford City Council is working with the County Council’s traveller liaison unit who visited the site yesterday.
