A woman is demanding answers after her cat died following a routine operation by an Oxford vet.
Nadia Pavlovic, 47, claims that Bartholomew veterinary surgery, in Iffley Road, is failing to provide answers as to why her cat, Darcy, a Christmas present from her daughter, collapsed and died following an operation to spay her.
The cat had previously had kittens and Mrs Pavlovic, of Kelburne Road, Oxford, did not want any more unexpected arrivals.
Darcy, one, was allowed home on the day of the operation day but by the following morning the cat would not eat and had very cold paws.
Mrs Pavlovic contacted the veterinary centre, but she claims that the centre brushed away her concerns and said that there was nothing to worry about.
Still concerned, she contacted another vet, who told her to take the cat back to the surgery immediately.
However, Darcy died on the way. A post mortem found that she died from a haemorrhage.
Mrs Pavlovic said the surgery had not explained why it happened or apologised.
She said: "They just don't want to accept that it's their fault because they didn't do the operation right.
"Mistakes do happen but they are trying to cover it up or something."
Andrew Bartholomew, principal vet, refused to comment on the case.
He said: "We have a policy that we never discuss any clinical cases or matters relating to third parties because of confidentiality."
