PREPARTIONS for low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs) in East Oxford are ramping up ahead of their rollout.
The LTNs, which are in the Divinity Road, St Clement’s, and St Mary’s areas, were consulted on between March and June 2021.
The divisive trial scheme was approved in December, with Oxfordshire County Council’s leader, Liz Leffman, making the delegated decision.

She said at the council meeting last year: “We need to do this if we want to be in line with what we said at COP26 and if we want to be in line with what our Government wants.
“It is vitally important that we take these steps and I recognise completely that there may be some people that will be very disappointed.”
Planters and bollards are being installed, with roads open to traffic until the works are complete.
The scheme is being implemented with an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO), with a consultation set to go live on Friday.
The ETRO will run for a maximum of 18 months, and last for at least six months.

The consultation is however expected to end in October or November, with a council cabinet decision expected in February.
Changes to the scheme can be made during the course of the ETRO, at which time the consultation period will reset and continue for six months from the point of that change.
