*UPDATE*: Thames Valley Police say the person has now been identified.
-
Thames Valley Police has issued an update after appealing for witnesses to an incident to come forward.
The force were looking for a man, captured on CCTV, after a woman - in her 20s - was told by a man that he was a rapist.
The incident happened at 3.30pm on April 19 in Oxford when the man boarded the number 8 bus from St Aldate's to London Road.
He then touched the victim’s arm, up to her shoulder.
At the time, investigating officer PC Lucy Pinker, based at Cowley police station, said: “We would like to appeal to anybody who recognises the man in this image to please get in touch as we believe they may have information in connection with this incident.
“You can get in touch by either making a report online or by calling 101 quoting reference number 43220168020.
“Alternatively, for 100% anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
In an update on May 19, Thames Valley Police explained that the man in the CCTV images has been identified and that they no longer need witnesses.
A spokesperson said: "On Tuesday (17/5), Thames Valley Police released CCTV images of a person officers wanted to speak to in relation to a sexual assault on the number 8 bus from St Aldate’s to London Road, on 19 April this year.
"Thanks to those that shared the appeal."
