HISTORIC nightclub Shush is set to repoen its doors this summer under a new name.
Social media pages advertising a Delaney’s Club coming to Wantage in summer 2022 have appeared on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The Facebook pages advertise a nightclub, afternoon tea, bottomless brunch, and band nights in a venue with a 600-person capacity.

The club has also said it is a Scottish bar that is LGBTQ+ friendly and that it will be hiring soon.
The news of Delany’s Club opening comes after clubbers in Wantage were left devastated when popular nightclub Shush unexpectedly closed following a financial blow during the pandemic in 2020.
Now the Newbury Street venue has new owners, Neil Delaney and Terry Frankum from Wantage who plan to bring “life back” to the town.
The new nightclub is named after Neil’s Scottish family name and it is Mr Delaney’s and Mr Frankum’s first venture together.
The nightclub owners want to support and work with other businesses in the area and some bar owners hope the reopening of the venue will keep punters in the town.

Craig Gradwell, the manager of The Swan pub and band venue in Market Place said the business is now getting back to normal following the hard times of the pandemic. He hopes the new nightclub will keep drinkers in the town.
Mr Gradwell said: “Anything that is going to keep people in the town is good. It will keep people in town and stop them from going to Oxford.”
Wantage residents have commented on the club’s Facebook page thrilled a club will be making a return.
Resident Rebcca Sheather who is happy about the return of a club commented that it is “The most exciting local news!”
On Instagram the Wallingford Sweet Shop commented on refurbishment pictures and said: “looking good guys.”

Room For Beauty Wantage also commented on Instagram and said: “Best of luck. Very much look forward to visiting when you open.”
Shush owner Steve Head took to Facebook when the club was forced to close in June 2020.
He said: “With a very heavy heart our family has decided that the doors to Shush will remain closed."
He added: "We will not be reopening – we are so sorry, and we are absolutely devastated that we have to announce this."
Mr Head said the main reason behind the decision was the pandemic but added that there were other factors like coronavirus insurance claims and agreement with the landlord over rent payments.
The opening date of Delaney’s Club has not yet been revealed.
