The charge came after Thames Valley Police received reports of two males having an altercation outside Aldi on Broadway at about 7.40pm on the Saturday.
The area was searched by multiple units but both males had left the area.
Police also arrested a 30-year-old man from the town being drunk and disorderly in a public place and he has since been given a fixed penalty notice.
A third 30-year-old man, also from Didcot, was arrested on suspicion of theft after reports of a male stealing a bike from a 12-year-old girl in Ladygrove Park and riding off at about 7.55pm.
He has since been released under investigation.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We can’t really say any more about the incident nor can we release the picture of the weapon at this stage.
