There are more than 50 empty shop units in Oxford city centre.
The empty units - located on Magdalen Street, Broad Street, Turl Street, High Street Street, Cornmarket, Queen Street, New Inn Hall Street, George Street and Park End Street, as well as in the Covered Market and the Clarendon Centre - have been documented by the Oxford Mail.
A number of the units are in a state of disrepair, with cracked windows and store fronts covered in old posters and graffiti.
The most recent audit of the city shows Oxford has a vacancy rate of 4.9 per cent for its retail units in the city centre.
A spokesperson for Oxford City Council said: "The latest audit (March 2022) shows that Oxford has a 4.9 per cent vacancy rate across its retail units in the city centre.
"This is below the ‘churn’ or ‘regular turnover’ figure of 5 per cent that is to be expected with changing business circumstances."
