MAGDALEN College School looks set for another year of academic success with the number of boys receiving Oxbridge offers reaching a 20-year high.
Almost four out of every ten boys at the private school in Cowley Place, Oxford, have been offered places to continue their studies at either Oxford or Cambridge universities.
A total of 36 per cent of boys in the upper sixth - 26 students - have had their applications accepted, which is significantly higher than last year when one in four received offers.
On average, about 25 per cent of boys from the school go on to study at Oxbridge each year.
Deputy head Steffan Griffiths said: "We have always known that this is a strong cohort and are obviously very pleased for the boys and their families.
"This figure is not quite a record, but it is the best since 1986 when we had a different intake.
"Some of the boys are great contributors to all aspects of school life."
