POLICE officers closed a main route into Oxford city centre yesterday evening after a suspected World War Two grenade was discovered.
At 5.39pm, officers warned that a temporary road closure had been put in place in Park End Street, after a suspected World War Two grenade was magnetically fished out of the Castle Mill stream.

Thames Valley Police posted online to say the force was aware the road closure would cause an inconvenience, and would aim to limit it.
By 6.50pm, the road closure had been lifted, with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal attending to remove the device.
The police thanked the public for its understanding and patience during the road closure.
