THE tiled roof of a church in Didcot has been damaged by four teenagers after they were asked to leave.
St Peter’s Church, in Newlands Avenue, also had rubbish posted through the letter box yesterday (01) between 4.30pm and 7.40pm.
Mark Stanley, a church warden at St Peter’s, posted on Facebook and said: “This was mindless criminal damage to a section of our roof which we have just had restored at great cost.

“Tiles were prised off with a tree branch and smashed to pieces and guttering ripped away from the walls.
“There were also branches thrown into the vicarage doorway and rubbish posted through the letter box.
“This was all because some teenagers were asked to move on after being an intimidating presence to our visitors to the memorial garden.
“We are deeply saddened by this response to a perfectly reasonable request. If you noticed the presence of three young males and one female on Sunday, May 1 between 4.30pm and 7.30pm please let the police know.”
