He described the venue as “by far the worst” and said the floors were “filthy” with what looked like “snot on all the glass”, urine “all over floor” and “poo everywhere” in the men’s toilets.
Mr Parker added he told the manager about the state of the venue, who “wasn't bothered”.
Someone else took to the review site to blast the pub as “the dirtiest Wetherspoons I have ever been in”.
The reviewer explained: “Tables were not cleared regularly, and I saw no sign of them being wiped clean, let alone sanitised thoroughly.”
Another reviewer called the pub “shameful” and called on Wetherspoon’s owner Tim Martin to visit it for himself.
The writer wrote: “We went specifically to the Four Candles for dinner having visited many of the chains pubs since 1979.
“On Mother’s Day at 8pm the place was like a bomb site with tables uncleared the furniture needed cleaning we ordered two meals and a bottle of white wine and was told they had run out of wine!
“So a pub with no wine ruined our evening.
“Also my wife found the toilets in a disgusting state.”
A fourth customer explained they went to the Four Candles for a quick bite to eat and a drink, however the pint tasted “off” and their food allegedly took more than 20 minutes to arrive.
“We didn’t dare order any food because the floor and toilets were filthy. I love Wetherspoons pubs normally but this is the worst I’ve ever been in. Please invest in your establishments Mr. Martin”, a fourth disgruntled customer said.
A spokesperson for Wetherspoons said The Four Candles scores highly during mystery shopper visits and consistently gains 5/5 under the Scores on the Doors food hygiene rating scheme, with the wider chain also winning Loo of the Year Award in 2022.
They added: “Whilst customer feedback is important to Wetherspoon, we do not accept that the pub is unclean.
“We hope that those customers who did have a negative experience during their visit to the pub, will visit again and we look forward to welcoming them back.”
