An Eynsham man has been charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.
Marlon Kambulu Joao, 39, of Merton Court, Eynsham, is accused of driving at a female police officer on the A419, near Swindon, in the early hours of yesterday morning. He will appear before the magistrates later today.
Wiltshire Police said officers had pulled over a car after responding to reports of a vehicle being driven the wrong-way down the dual carriageway at around 12.40am on Tuesday, April 26.

After being stopped by the officers, the car was allegedly driven off – seriously injuring one of the police officers. She was taken to hospital with serious - but not life threatening – injuries and later discharged.
Joao faces charges of attempted murder, dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen of breath and driving without insurance or a licence.
He will appear before Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning.
