PLANS for Oxford researchers to extend the use of their 'temporary' Covid vaccine trial centre, a pub to keep its beer garden, and a hairdresser to become a home, are just a few highlights from this week’s planning round-up.

Covid vaccine trial site
Planning Reference: 22/00785/FUL
The planning permission that means two ‘temporary’ buildings can be used for the Covid-19 Oxford Vaccine trials at Churchill Hospital expired on February 3.
Researchers at Oxford University have asked Oxford City Council to renew the permission for the next two years, so they can continue their work which they estimate will end by 2023.
The university's Town Planning Manager Rebecca Horley described the site as "integral".
She said: "In light of the continuing prevalence of the pandemic, the need for the site’s continued use is essential.
After the research, developers say the land will be restored to the condition it was before.

The White Rabbit's Beer Garden
Planning Reference: 22/00672/VAR
The White Rabbit, on Friar's Entry in Oxford city centre, has applied for planning permission to keep its beer garden which used to be a car park.
It has pub beer garden furniture, fencing and umbrellas already, but it needs permission to keep them.
In the application is also a note about a ground floor door for access to the beer garden and changing the hours of use to be 10am to 11pm all week.

'Dilapidated' hairdresser on Cowley Road
Planning reference: 22/00730/FUL
Plans have been submitted to convert a 'dilapidated' hairdresser on Cowley Road into a residential property.
Chameleon Unisex Hairdressers on 17 Cowley Road, could be getting a whole revamp with works such as raising of the front area floor level, new electrics, a new toilet and shower facility, and a new kitchen area.
Developers also want to add a new brickwork cavity wall frontage, which would match the neighbours at no.19, with a window and front door access, and new French doors are to be installed to give access to the garden.
ATM on Horspath Road
Planning reference: 22/00723/FUL
A cashzone ATM has already been installed to the right of the Daudhar shop entrance, but the company has had to retrospectively ask for planning permission.
The purpose of the cash machine is to allow cash withdrawals 24 hours a day.
Developers say the area where the ATM has been installed is well-lit and open in full view of pedestrians 'aiding natural surveillance' and there is also CCTV.
