An inquest has been opened into the death of a cyclist killed outside Oxford Parkway station.

Kidlington woman Ellen Moilanen, 44, also known as El Len Tham, died in a collision with a lorry on the Oxford Road during rush hour on February 8.

Opening an inquest into her death at Oxford Coroner’s Court on Thursday afternoon, assistant coroner Joanna Coleman said a post mortem had found the cause of Mrs Moilanen’s death to be multiple injuries.

Ms Coleman said the cyclist’s death was verified at the scene at 8.20am.

A full inquest will be held on September 20 at 11.30am.

In a tribute after her death, a spokesman for Reuben College, where Mrs Moilanen worked as an administrator, said: "Ellen will be fondly remembered as a friend to all, resourceful, funny, kind, to the point, and endlessly patient.

"Never could the college expect to have been blessed with such a wonderful colleague, and never could we have dreamt she be taken so suddenly.

"Our thoughts are with her husband Karo, family, friends and with all those for whom and with whom she worked so happily."

A number of college events were held in Ellen Moilanen's memory and her funeral took place on 28 February, according to a University of Oxford statement.
