A SCHOOL has received a glowing review following an inspection earlier this year.
Abingdon’s St Helen and St Katharine was visited by the Independent Schools Inspectorate in February, with the report published this month.
The school met all the regulatory elements of the ‘focused compliance and educational quality inspection’ and was graded ‘excellent’ – the highest inspection rating – for both the students’ academic and personal development.

The report states: “The teaching enables pupils to make good progress, encompasses effective behaviour management and is supported by suitable resources.
“The quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements is excellent.
“Pupils are highly motivated, articulate and have a strong work ethic.”

On the quality of the pupils’ personal development, the inspectors stated: “The supportive community within the school and the strong pastoral system enable the pupils to flourish and grow.
“Excellent pupil and teacher relationships, and amongst pupils themselves, create an environment which allows pupils of all ages to grow in self-confidence in preparation of the next stage in their lives.”
Reflecting on the inspection report, headmistress Rebecca Dougall said: “Our students are wonderful to work with, and the combination of their attitude and abilities, and the school’s provision, seemed to greatly impress the inspectorate.
“It is only right that I pay tribute to the students, staff and parents of St Helen’s for all of the work that goes into achieving a report such as this.”
