A protest calling for transgender conversion therapy to be banned will take place in Oxford.
Protesters will take over Bonn Square on April 19 at 6pm to protest the “Government’s refusal to protect trans people in their proposed conversion therapy ban”.
It follows a partial U-turn from the Government on plans to entirely scrap conversion therapy.

The Government has said a ban on conversion therapy for lesbian, gay and bisexual people will go ahead but transgender conversion therapy will not be banned.
The protest is being supported by Oxford Pride, the Jolly Farmers pub, T(ART) Productions and both Oxford University’s LGBTQ+ society and student union campaign.
Sharing details of the protest on the Oxford Against Conversion Therapy Facebook page, a spokesperson said: “Any conversion therapy ban that does not encompass those practices that attempt to change people’s gender identities is NOT a ban on conversion therapy at all.
“The constant back and forth on this matter from the government is unacceptable. In support of Oxford’s trans community, and in a city whose university is increasingly becoming an emblem of institutional transphobia, we must act. Join us.”
Over 3000 people turned out to demand a total ban on conversion practices including trans people. No ifs, no buts, no exemptions.
