Canalside, the proposed area which will be built on, is set to provide buildings ranging between two and five stories in height and car parking, cycle parking, open space and landscaping.

The site’s role within the wider Oxford North Masterplan is to provide housing to support and balance the knowledge-based industries which are proposed at nearby sites.

The site will have a mix of apartments and houses, which can be privately owned or available through social housing.

Drawings shared by the applicant as part of the application shows sleek, modern looking homes as well as an open square area, featuring communal benches and green space.

The wider North Oxford development is identified as having three key areas, Canalside south of the A40, Central north of the A40 and west of the A44 and Eastside which is east of the A44.

The team behind the North Oxford develop shared in an action plan that they hope by 2026 it will be a ‘vibrant’ and ‘successful’ extension to the city.

They plan for the development to feature ‘attractive’ streets, buildings and open spaces, with an emphasis on quality and sustainability making it an ‘example’ to other development communities.

You can read more about the application on the Oxford City Council planning portal.
