Oxford City Council has defended sending the Lord Mayor Cllr Mark Lygo to a climate conference on a plane.
Mr Lygo posted a picture of himself at Gatwick airport and captioned it on Twitter: “Off to our twinning city in Grenoble – France. Climate conference – at London Gatwick Airport.”
But resident Tony Brett, whose biography says he works in IT at Oxford University, replied "Flying to a Climate conference that's a pretty easy train journey @MarkLygo?"
He added Ox Labour councillors "never cease to amaze me sometimes".

Charlotte Baker, whose biography is given as director of charity Small Steps for Africa, added: "Just incredible @MarkLygo - you couldn’t make it up. Pls reconsider your transport mode next time."
The city council has now reacted: "We are a a very low mileage Council, and we send him by air because it's quick, and the meeting is important."
