Here are the spots where your bike is more likely to be stolen in Oxford.
After analysing Thames Valley Police data on where bicycle thefts have occurred in the last three months, it has become clear that some areas are far less safe to park your bike than others.
Between November 2021 and January 2022, 682 bikes were stolen in the Thames Valley Police area.

The map below shows where exactly these bikes were stolen, with clusters of thefts within the Oxford ring road.
There is a high density of bicycles stolen in Oxford, with clusters around certain areas.
Going from south to north, here are the Oxford areas within the ring road where clusters of bikes were stolen from in the latest three months of data.
- Templars Square area – Five thefts reported in November 2021, one in December
- On or near the north of Cowley Road – Eight thefts reported in November 2021, Three in December
- Near Magdalen Street Tesco Express – Three thefts reported in November 2021
- On or near Botley Road – Two thefts reported in November 2021, One theft reported in January
- Near St. Giles Car Park and St John’s College – Two thefts reported in December 2021, One theft reported January
- On or near Kingston Road, Jericho - Three thefts reported in December 2021
- On or near St Peter’s Road – One theft reported in November 2021, One theft reported in January 2022
