A historic pub closed after an Oxford University college spent millions on student accommodation has been described as 'an eyesore'.
Lincoln College in High Street closed The Mitre in 2019 so that a multi-million pound scheme to provide new student accommodation could take place.
Regulars thought the pub - one of the city's oldest - would reopen once work on the accommodation was complete in 2021 but it has never reopened.
Now Dave Richardson, a spokesman for the Oxford branch of real ale group CAMRA, has described the building in High Street as 'an eyesore'.
He said: "What's happening or not happening to the Mitre, on the High Street, is concerning as it looks increasingly dilapidated and has become an eyesore in the heart of the city.

"Owner Lincoln College has invested heavily in the student accommodation on its upper floors, but what has become of the historic pub and restaurant?
"It had been leased to brewer Marston's but we have no idea what Lincoln's plans are now.
"These pubs might be the private property of their respective colleges but such is their history and renown that the people of Oxford deserve an update on what the plans are."
When students are not staying in the new accommodation they can be rented out by members of the public, according to the college's website.
The website says: "Following a three year renovation, the Turl Street Mitre reopened in 2021 and offers accommodation that combines modern comfort with the charm and character of 17th century Oxford.
"This is one of the most central and comfortable places to stay in Oxford with reasonable room rates.

"With six distinct room types, the Turl Street Mitre provides the perfect place to stay while you explore everything that Oxford has to offer.
We welcome last-minute bookings and offer reduced rates for firm bookings in advance."
Lincoln College bursar Alex Spain told the Oxford Mail that The Mitre could reopen.
He said: "The Mitre is let to a tenant. We are hopeful that it will be open again very soon."
Drinkers were shocked when St John's College closed the Lamb & Flag in St Giles after takings fell during the pandemic.
But it has now been taken over by community interest group The Inklings and is expected to reopen after Easter.
Last month more than 50 members of the Inklings gathered at the pub to celebrate the prospect of reopening,
Inklings board member Dave Norwood told other members that he was delighted to see them gathered in the renovated pub, which has had its front bar removed to create more space.
And he pledged the pub would 'never shut' once it reopened.
