THE second annual Mardi Gras celebration is to be held at Dawson Street, off Cowley Road, Oxford, on Saturday, February 23.
It will run between 8pm and midnight and people who come along to the free event are asked to "be masked, be feathered, bejewelled and be there.".
Food will be available, with proceeds raised from the sale of the refreshments going towards the group campaigning against proposed developments at Warneford Meadow.
Organiser Erica Steinhauer appealed to Oxford City Council's east area committee for £650 to provide a bedouin-style tent to house the event.
Committee chairman Nuala Young and area co-ordinator Fergus Lapage were given delegated powers to decide whether or not to award the event any money.
