Witney Carnival will be back this year after a two-year break due to the pandemic.
The hugely popular event will take place on Saturday July 9 with the theme Witney: Celebrating HM Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The last time it was held in 2019 hundreds of residents lined the streets to watch the procession of a fleet of floats, plus 28 schools, clubs and organisations parade through the town before heading to The Leys for an afternoon of family fun.
This year revellers can enjoy live music from a special stage, a funfair and, of course, the famous grand old Smiley steam train wending its way through the attractions.
The Dog Show, held under the Kennel Club rules and regulations, is a popular feature at the carnival and local businesses and traders may wish to join army of trade and craft stalls.
In previous years there has even been a donkey derby, a circus act and even a competition for town crier.
Witney Carnival is organised by the local Rotary Club, Lions Club, Round Table and Royal Air Force Air Cadets.
In the past it has raised £10,000 for local organisations.
It is only possible to achieve because of the generous contributions from local businesses and other supporters.
