Oxford's Russian twin city has been struck off the city's welcome sign on Botley Road with black tape.
The act of 'vandalism' comes as tensions between the UK and Russia intensify over the conflict in Ukraine.
In the latest news on Russia's invasion of the Eastern European country, a tentative plan to set up humanitarian corridors from Ukraine has been agreed in talks.
Russia is also being investigated for war crimes by the International Criminal Court.
Whilst governments across the world are introducing unprecedented sanctions on Russia, with businesses globally cutting ties with the global superpower, Oxford City Council defends its link.
This decision has proved divisive within Oxford.
Oxford City Council has been approached for a comment.
