More than 6,000 pupils have been offered their first choice of secondary school for when they start Year 7 in September.
Parents and children across Oxfordshire received a letter from the council on Today (March 1) revealing if they have been accepted into their first choice of secondary school.
Oxfordshire County Council has published the data on the latest round of offers for school children in the county.
A total of 88.27 per cent (6,606) of applications have been awarded their first choice and 96.42 per cent (7,216) have been offered one of the four choices they listed on their application.

According to council statistics almost 300 more children have been offered their first choice of secondary school in comparison to last year.
Previous years: Oxfordshire offered first choice of secondary school
- 2015/16: 84.2 per cent
- 2016/17: 84.1 per cent
- 2017/18: 83.5 per cent
- 2018/19: 82.1 per cent
- 2019/20: 80.9 per cent
- 2020/21: 89.99 per cent
Councillor Liz Brighouse, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for children, education and youth services, said: “Our school admissions team has done an excellent job in ensuring that so many parents and children have been offered their first choice. I am grateful to the team for its hard work. Our aim as a council is to give every child a good start in life and our school admissions team certainly play its part in that year in, year out.”
