PEOPLE who live in Blackbird Leys have described the moment when police swarmed the area.
Thames Valley Police were called by South Central Ambulance Service at around 8.50pm to Mercury Road in Blackbird Leys on Thursday.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was raced to hospital and is now in a 'serious but stable' condition.
Neighbours have described what they saw when police arrived.
A woman, who lives in Mercury Road who has asked not to be named, said: "The first police car came at about 9pm. I saw five or six cars and a big police van. Armed officers came later on holding guns and there was a helicopter here for almost an hour."
A woman, who lives in Lobelia Road who has asked not to be named, said: "I noticed a helicopter was over here for a very long time. My daughter was here and said the police were probably looking for someone. I heard some shouting and thought something must be wrong."

A man, who lives in Field Avenue who has asked not to be named, said: "I saw police came and a helicopter was around here - that's all. I think it happened at around 9pm because I checked my Ring doorbell footage."
