Support for Ukraine has come in from Oxford's Russian twin city, some individuals joining widespread protests against Putin's invasion of Ukraine.
Oxford and Russian city Perm have been twinned since 1995, the chairman of the Oxford Perm Association sharing that her friends are against the invasion.
The Professor of Oxford University and honorary Professor of Perm state university, Chairman Karen Hewitt, said: "We are appalled at Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine and we are sure that our friends in Perm feel the same.
"Already some of them have been in protests which are taking place across Russia. They are saying Not In My Name.
"We are supporting them in their outrage and grief."
Perm is a Russian city close to the Ural Mountains in the West of the country, in Eastern Europe, on the banks of the Kama River.
Joint projects and exchanges over the years have included dancing, journalism conferences, youth football tournaments, school children’s art projects, and annual exchanges of University teachers and graduates.
