The UK’s first 100mph battery-diesel hybrid train could start serving Oxford next month.
The two-carriage train, named HybridFLEX, was introduced by Chiltern Railways.
It was first used on February 10 on a 40-mile route between London Marylebone and Aylesbury.
It is anticipated to start running in Oxford on the week beginning March 7, but this is subject to change.

Where will it cover?
The train would cover the 3.05pm London Marylebone – Oxford service and the 4.38pm Oxford – London Marylebone service.
What stations will it call at?
It would call at stations including Bicester Village, Islip and Oxford Parkway.
How is it powered?
The 20-year-old diesel train has a powerful battery added to it to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 25 per cent, according to owner Porterbrook.

The battery was developed by Rolls-Royce.
It provides a 75 per cent decrease in noise and a 70 per cent decrease in nitrogen oxide.
Chiltern Railways previously had a fully diesel fleet.
