Hundreds of people have put their name to a letter calling for urgent improvements to a stretch of road where a cyclist lost her life earlier this month.

The university worker, 40s, was killed on the A4165 near Oxford Parkway station on February 8 when her bicycle was struck by a lorry.

This morning, exactly a fortnight after her death, a dozen cyclists met outside County Hall to deliver a letter to council bosses urging them to make the road safer for cyclists.

Kidlington resident Mark Fransham, who drafted the letter, told the Oxford Mail: “Two weeks on from a fatal collision nothing has changed. There are still the same dangers on that road. It’s just an accident waiting to happen again. We really want to see some action taken soon.”

Signatories to the letter, which is backed by campaign group Cyclox, want to see a segregated cycle lane, better signage and the speed limit reduced from 40mph to 30mph.
