OXFORDSHIRE Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed it was called to a blaze in London Road, Headington yesterday.

Crews from the Rewley Road and Slade Park fire stations were called to a suspected fire involving light fittings, at 3.46pm.

On arrival, crews found light smoke and isolated the electrics, while searching for the cause of the fire in the ceiling void, using thermal imaging cameras.

Incident commander, watch manager Dan Shepherd said: “Staff did an excellent job evacuating the property promptly and provided clear information to crews on arrival which helped us locate the scene of fire quickly.

“Thankfully the fire had extinguished itself. Crews carried out a full check of the property before handing it back over to the shop manager.”
