These are the men jailed by judges at Oxford Crown Court this month.
Woman bottled outside sports bar
'Peacemaker’ Thomas Foster-Barnes beat a woman over the head with a bottle after watching her take a swing for his friend.
The 30-year-old was out of prison on licence from a 63 month sentence for armed robbery when he landed the blow outside J’s Sports Bar in the shadow of Oxford United’s Kassam Stadium on December 2, 2020.
Oxford Crown Court heard that Foster-Barnes had initially played the peacemaker, trying to calm the argument, but struck out with the bottle after his victim threw a punch at his friend.

Barton OAP Reginald Warry, 86, was jailed for 12 years after he was found guilty late last year of eight counts of sexual assault.

Bent mover filched family heirlooms
Removals man Martin Bateman, 54, stole thousands of pounds worth of antiques and family heirlooms while working for Luker Bros in Oxford.
He was branded a ‘consummate liar and a charmer’ by one of the 11 victims whose belongings were stolen during house moves between 2014 and 2019.
Jailing him for two years, the judge said he had made a ‘commodity’ of his victims' memories.
The dad-of-one was said to have earned more than £5,100 from sales of the stolen items through Watlington auction house Jones and Jacob.

Dealer had drugs in his boxers
Dealer Billy Biston had crack cocaine and heroin safely stowed away in a sunglasses case stuffed down his boxer shorts, a court heard.
Biston volunteered the package during a strip search, having been stopped in a car in Warwick Road, Banbury, on August 18, 2020.
Police officers’ suspicions were raised when Biston, now 27, admitted having cannabis on him.
Judge Maria Lamb jailed him for 28 months.

'Sad' true reason why prisoner had illegal phone
A prisoner had an illegal phone to chat to his young son - because he didn’t want the boy to think he had no father figure.
When Ishmale Hanson was caught with the phone by gaolers he was less than a week away from being released from HMP Springhill on licence.
Fearful he’d put his release in jeopardy, the 30-year-old walked out of the open prison in Grendon Underwood, Buckinghamshire, on April 5 last year.
He wasn’t arrested until more than a month later, on May 17, when he was caught behind the wheel of a grey Audi A3 on the M40 motorway near Bicester. Found on him was heroin and crack cocaine.
Jailing him for six months, Judge Maria Lamb said: “This is a rather sad situation, really. You, as you accept and have accepted from an early stage, knew you shouldn't have a phone in prison."

'This was carefully targeted and planned'
‘Semi-professional burglar’ Justin Bourton was linked to a corner shop smash-and-grab by a blood spatter
The 43-year-old said he’d been hit in the back the head by another member of the gang and had been roped into the raid at the Drayton convenience store at the last moment in order to repay an old drug debt.
Rejecting his claim and jailing him for three years, Recorder John Bate-Williams said: “This was in my judgement a carefully targeted and planned burglary of a commercial premises and one of the gang was armed with a baseball bat.
“A member of the public found a pair of black stockings outside [the shop] with the legs knotted, which were not presumably intended to be used for allure but to create fear.”

'I bashed her with my dukes'
Former welder Peter Hunter punched a woman he believed had stolen from him.
The 54-year-old was cleared of wounding with intent by striking the woman over the head with one of the collection of dumbbells in his Banbury flat.
But he was jailed for two years by Recorder John Bate-Williams, as he’d earlier pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of causing grievous bodily harm.
The judge said: “I don’t need to decide conclusively whether your victim had stolen from you on previous occasions.
“Nothing of that nature justifies a violent attack on another person, let alone a woman. You should have been able to take a sensible decision by choosing either to have nothing more to do with this woman or report the alleged thefts to the police.
“Instead, your attack was sudden, swift and violent. She was quite unprepared for your assault and you caused her really serious injuries.”
Hunter told police in the wake of the attack at his flat in Boxhedge Road, Banbury: “I didn’t bash her with my dumbbells, I bashed her with my Daisy Dukes [rhyming slang that Hunter, incorrectly, claimed meant fists].”

Orgy of drunken violence
Drunken thug Bradley Paley smashed his ex with a dog bowl then bit her chin and ‘ragged her like an animal’ in an orgy of jealous violence.
The 29-year-old made what his victim labelled an ‘evil promise’, telling her he would scar her so ‘no one else will have you, no one else will ever find you attractive’.
In a victim personal statement, Paley’s ex said she was reminded of the assault every time she looked at her dog Rocky’s water bowl. “I feel anxious all the time. I feel like I’m scared of my own shadow.” She had started self-defence classes, she said: “He beat me to within an inch of my life and I don’t want to go through that ever again.”

Man subjected another partner to assault
Thug Jacob Chambers repeatedly punched his then girlfriend in a drunken New Year’s Day assault.
The 32-year-old already had convictions for assaulting five partners when he subjected the woman to the attack at a flat they’d been lent in Banbury.
The assault partly-captured on tape after his victim managed to press record on her pocketed mobile phone.
Judge Lamb jailed him for 29 months.
