The fire service was called to a bedroom fire at student accommodation last night.
Crews from Rewley Road Fire Station and one from Slade Fire Station scrambled to the scene of the blaze on Bradmore Road at 9.21pm.
The fire is thought to have started in a waste paper bin.
Firefighters wore breathing apparatuses and used a high pressure hose reels to extinguish the fire, ventilation fans were then used to clear the smoke.
Firefighters Incident commander Jason Clifford said: “Thankfully the building had a working fire alarm system that alerted everyone allowing a quick evacuation of the building.”
He urged members of the public to check they have working smoke alarms in their homes.
