NEXT month Britain's first Zero Emissions Zone (ZEZ) will launch in Oxford - but the council is yet to give an exact date for the scheme to start.
The scheme was supposed to begin in February - but on the third week of January, the launch date has still not been confirmed.
Oxfordshire County Council, who are piloting the scheme, said that the ZEZ will be launched in February, with the start date being confirmed in the 'coming weeks'
The ZEZ, when it begins, means that polluting cars could be fined for driving into the city centre.
Only electric cars which do not burn fossil fuels and create emissions will be able to enter the zone for free.
You can find out everything you needed to know about the ZEZ here.
When asked by the Oxford Mail what date the scheme would begin, a spokesperson for the council said: "The Zero Emission Zone pilot will launch in February 2022, and the start date will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
"Eligible vehicle users can apply for discounts and exemptions for the pilot now on the county council’s website: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/zeroemissionzone”
