Veganuary 2022 has kicked off in full-force with plenty of people taking up the challenge to eat a vegan diet.
The month-long event, which has been run since 2014, encourages people to try and eat more plant-based meals.
This year a number of supermarkets have rolled out an array vegan options for customers to substitute for meat.

For those trying out Veganuary, people who want to eat less meat more generally and those who are already vegan, there are lots of restaurant options in Oxford.
All of the restaurants on this list are highly rated by TripAdvisor reviewers and are noted as serving good vegan options, with restaurant one being fully vegan.
1. Za'atar Bake
166 Cowley Rd, Oxford OX4 1UE
This restaurant serves a whole range of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes and has received rave reviews, as well as lots of five star reviews.
Reviewers have praised the restaurants “fantastic” vegan takeaway options and variety of options available.
2. Spiced Roots
64 Cowley Road, Oxford OX4 1JB England
Spiced Roots aims to ‘create an unparalleled Caribbean gastronomical experience’ for people.
The restaurant’s menu offers a variety of vegan options including smoked baigan and tomato choka, served with sada roti and green pawpaw and curry bodi, served with steamed rice, plantain and salad.
With a five star excellent rating on TripAdvisor, the numbers speak for themselves.
3. Delhish Vegan Kitchen
19-20 St. Clements Street, Oxford OX4 1AB England
As the name suggests, Delihish Vegan Kitchen is a 100 per cent vegan Indian restaurant.
The menu is absolutely packed with options including curries, wraps and chaats.
The restaurants TripAdvisor page is awash with five star reviews from people who have praised the restaurant the authentic and “delicious” food.
4. The Coconut Tree Oxford
76 St. Clements Street, Oxford OX4 1AH England
The Coconut Tree Oxford serves Sri Lankan cuisine and aims to deliver the best ‘Sri Lankan street food’ to hungry customers.
With a strong four and half star rating reviewers have praised the food, price point and atmosphere.
5. Turtle Bay – Oxford
12 Friars Entry Magdalen Street, Oxford OX1 2BY England
Although a large chain, Oxford’s branch of Turtle Bay has a menu which gives any vegan, or Veganuary challenger, enough choice to last them a couple of trips.
Dishes here that are vegan include crispy okra, no moo burger and chilli chocolate brownie.
6. Yeti Nepalese Restaurant
237 Cowley Road, Oxford OX4 1XG England
This family run Nepalese business uses fresh Nepalese herbs and spices to create their food.
Winner of Oxfordshire Restaurant Awards 2013 and 2015 in the Asian category and with four and half stars on TripAdvisor they are definitely worth a visit.
People who have visited Yeti have raved about quality of the food and the variety of choice.
7. Spice Lounge
193 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2 7AR England
This Indian restaurant offers all your classic takeaway dishes as well as more authentic offers.
The restaurant has vegetarian-dedicated section of the menu, with reviewers stating that there are also lots of vegan-friendly options too.
8. Antep Kitchen
193 Banbury Road, Oxford OX2 7AR England
This Turkish restaurant has an astonishing 1,174 five star reviews, putting it firmly in the five star category.
The menu is very clear in marking out which options are vegetarian however there does not seem to be as many vegan options as the other spots on this list.
A number of reviewers, however, have said there was enough to enjoy a meal.
9. NEF Istanbul Restaurant
Cowley Road 212-214 Raja House, Oxford OX4 1UQ England
The second Turkish restaurant on our list, aims to serve Turkish, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisines.
TripAdvisor reviewers have said there is a decent selection of vegan options available, as well as vegetarian.
10. BBuona Pinsa Bar
102 Gloucester Green, Oxford OX1 2DF England
This Gloucester Green restaurant is a very highly rated pizza spot, offering a variety of pizzas to tempt the taste buds.
Two of the pizzas are vegan while another two are vegetarian, while a number of the starters and salads can also suit a plant-based diet.
