For many years it was known as the Mediterranean Fish Bar.
But now the popular fish and chip shop in Abingdon Road has changed hands and it has a new name above the door - Atlantic Fish Bar.
Maria and Lawrence Mendes bought the business in November and decided to make a fresh start with a new name for the shop.
Mother-of-two Mrs Mendes said they had been based at a chip shop in Berinsfield and decided to buy the chip shop business at 270 Abingdon Road when it became available.

She added: “It had been the Mediterranean Fish Bar for a very long time, so we decided to change the name to let everyone know there has been a fresh start and we have now taken over.
“The shop was closed for two weeks after we bought the business so we could make some changes to the interior.
“We are in the process of completing refurbishments and will reopen the restaurant soon, with a number of tables so that people can eat their meals inside as well as taking them away.
“The Mediterranean Fish Bar had a good reputation and we want to make sure that continues so all our loyal customers keep coming back.”
Mrs Mendes, originally from Portugal, said she and her family have been living in Oxfordshire for a long time.
She added: “People come from different parts of the city to buy our fish and chips - some of our customers come from Rose Hill.
“Parking around here can be a bit tricky but there are some spaces and customers can usually find a space for a short time while they are buying their meals.”
As well as fish and chips, the shop serves jacket potatoes, kebabs and burgers.

Mrs Mendes said prices are as competitive as possible, with a small fish, chips and peas costing £7.90.
She added: “Fish and chips is still one of the most popular meals and I don’t think that is going to change.”
Atlantic Fish Bar is open from 11am to 9pm from Monday to Thursday, from 11am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday, from 12 noon to 8am.
In May, the Oxford Mail launched a competition to find the county’s favourite chip shop, with The Codfather in Witney taking the crown.
With 403 votes, The Codfather pipped Albert’s Fish Bar in Kidlington and Mediterranean Fish Bar in New Marston (314 and 148 votes respectively).
Sara Braiotta, from The Codfather, said earlier the award was recognition of her parents’ hard work. We’re incredibly proud, my parents have been in the chip shop business since 1984 so to win this award is very important,” she said.

“Being supported and voted for by people around Witney is extra special. My parents aren’t from the UK, but we’ve had such a warm welcome from everyone.”
