PLANS for a sex shop, the suspension of parking bays and the creation of double yellow lines are among the latest public notices issued by local authorities in Oxfordshire.

Councils release the notices throughout the week, with notices covering a range of topics, including planned roadworks, and both planning and licensing applications.

Sex shop: An application for a ‘sex establishment licence’ in Cowley Road has been submitted.

Darker Enterprises submitted the application on Tuesday, to Oxford City Council, with regards to Private Shop in Cowley Road.

Darker Enterprises is applying for a licence to use the premises as a sex establishment, namely a sex shop.

Anyone wishing to support or oppose the application should write to the head of community services at the city council by January 18.

Parking bay suspension: Approximately 20 metres of pay and display parking bays will be out of action for almost two years due to the need for building site work cabins.

From January 15, parking spaces in Savile Road, in front and east of the entrance to New College School, will be suspended as cabins will be on the highway.

The work is anticipated to be completed on September 12, 2023.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.

Exceptions are included for emergency service vehicles and the works.

The comedian David Mitchell is an alumni of New College School.

Double yellows: On December 13, Oxfordshire County Council made an experimental order to remove a 15-metre section of unrestricted parking in Corn Street, Witney (outside numbers 148 to 152).

This is to create a continuous section of double yellow lines, and support active travel measures.

The order will come into force on Christmas Eve and remain so for a maximum period of 18 months.

Public inquiry: A planning inquiry set to take place next year has been postponed.

An appeal by Frank Smith against an enforcement notice(s) served by Vale of White Horse District Council was due to be examined on January 11 at Farmoor Village Hall.

The notice alleges that without planning permission, land in Cumnor Road, Filchampstead, was used for the siting of mobile homes, for residential purposes and without the granting of planning permission.

Alcohol licences: Wallingford Masonic Centre has applied to South Oxfordshire District Council for a premises licence.

The proposed licensable activities are: open to the public between 10am and 11pm.

Bar licensed hours are 6pm to 11pm on weekdays, and between 6pm and 11.45pm on Saturdays.

Anyone who wishes to make representations regarding this application must give notice in writing to the district council’s licensing team by December 30.

The Ox Shed has also applied for a premises licence for The Ox Shed Cafe in Cholsey.

The licence would allow the supply of alcohol, on premises, between the hours of 8am and 11pm, seven days a week.

Representations for this application must also be made in writing to the district council’s licensing team, by January 5.
