Technicians working on new Timothée Chalamet blockbuster Willy Wonka have begun setting up in Radcliffe Square.
On Sunday, a large crane could be seen towering over the 300-year-old Radcliffe Camera.
Other workmen appeared to be on the roof of the historic library.
Boxes littering the cobbled square were clearly marked with the Warner Bros film studio logo, while a note in a car parked opposite Hertford College on Catte Street stated the vehicle was connected to the ‘Wonka’ film.
Catte Street is expected to remain shut between the High Street and the Old Bodleian library until 7pm on Monday, December 13.
Earlier this month, University of Oxford newspaper the Cherwell reported that students at Hertford College were told that the college’s cat Simpkin IV would be ‘competing for quad space with the cast and crew of the new Wonka film’.
‘Dune’ actor Timothée Chalamet will star as Willy Wonka in the Paul King-directed feature film.
The story, scripted by Horrible Histories actor Simon Farnaby and based on Roald Dahl’s beloved character, will focus on Willy Wonka’s adventures as a young man – before he opened his famous chocolate factory.
