AN E-SCOOTER rider was stopped by the police for speeding.
Last night, Thames Valley Police stopped the rider on the High Street in
Oxford after using the vehicle at speed.
The rider had previously been warned for using an E-Scooter in public.
The police breathalysed the individual, and the results came back negative.
The privately-owned E-Scooter was then seized - it is currently illegal to ride privately-owned e-scooters on public roads.
Oxfordshire's County Council's trial e-scooter scheme, created in partnership with Voi, was extended last week for another four months.
There have been 118,000 trips using the e-scooters so far, replacing an estimated 40,000 short car journeys across the city as well as helping improve local air quality by preventing around 21 tonnes of C02 emissions.
