In Oxford, there are plenty of small businesses to support in the run up to Christmas.

It started in 2010 in the US and is in its fourth year in the UK.

It is an international day aimed at celebrating independent and small businesses around the world.

In the UK it hopes to help the nearly 6 million small and medium businesses in the country.
The annual event is described as a ‘grass-roots, non-political, non-commercial’ campaign which encourages people to support small businesses in their communities, both on the Saturday itself and beyond.
It is also hoped the event will inspire and promote small businesses all year round.
How can you get involved?
If you are a small business owner you can register yourself to be listed on the official Small Buisness Saturday buisness finder – for free.
As a customer in Oxford you can support small businesses by using their services or buying from them instead of a large chain.
You can also promote the day and its message on social media by tweeting or posting about the day, small businesses you have used and why others should shop small.
