The victim of a hotel manager rapist was praised for having the ‘courage’ to speak out.
Paul Harris, 36, was jailed for more than eight years at Oxford Crown Court on Thursday for the terrifying assault on his victim in April 2019. He confessed to detectives that he became a 'devil' when he lost his temper.
The former staff member at Middle Aston House hotel held the woman against her will, filmed her perform sex acts on herself and raped her in a laundry cupboard. She eventually fled across fields before ringing 999.
Welcoming the sentence, officer in the case Det Con Samantha Hunter said: “I would like to pay tribute to the victim for having the courage to come forward and speaking out against her abuser as well as giving evidence that led to his conviction.
“We work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice and Harris will now serve time in prison as a result of his appalling crimes.”
She added: “If you have been a victim of any type of sexual abuse, please do report it.
“If you are in immediate danger please call 999, if you wish to make a report then you can call 101 or you can report online.”
Harris, who admitted false imprisonment, rape and causing a woman to engage in sexual activity. He was jailed for eight years and nine months, made subject to an indefinite restraining order and will have to register as a sex offender for life.
Sending him down, Judge Ian Pringle QC said of the vile abuse filmed by Harris: “It was utterly degrading and truly appalling behaviour by you.”
