The new branch will be opening in Templars Square Shopping Park in Cowley, in the empty unit where Matalan used to be.
Bosses at Lidl have now applied for planning permission, asking Oxford City Council if they can put new signs up outside the front of the store.

The three signs will be: a square illuminated sign facing into the retail park’s car park; a poster in front of the store and a non-illuminated sign at the end of T K Maxx, facing Between Towns Road.
The budget food store is expected to have a floor space of 1,244sqm.
It first announced plans in June to open 50 new stores in the UK this year as part of a huge expansion.
The project is part of a £1.3 billion investment, with the aim of launching 1,000 new stores by 2022 - 50 of which will open to customers by December this year.
