Stagecoach is offering free travel for veterans and military personnel across Oxford on Remembrance Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Any veteran wearing medals or a veteran’s badge, serving personnel in uniform, or with proof of military ID, can travel for free on all Stagecoach services on November 11 and November 14. Armed forces personnel in uniform or carrying ID will also be given free local travel, honouring those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Employees across Stagecoach will also be asked to honour the minute’s silence.

The ongoing free travel commitment follows the launch of Stagecoach’s employee-led UK-wide Veterans Network which is currently engaging with the armed forces on a recruitment campaign, aimed at those who are leaving the military to find job opportunities at the company.

This commitment from Stagecoach will continue each year on 11th November and the following Sunday as well as Armed Forces Weekend.

Rachel Geliamassi, Managing Director at Stagecoach West, said: “The Royal British Legion is very close to our hearts, as many of our employees are either ex-serving personnel or have friends and family who are in the Armed Forces. We hope to help the local Armed Forces community, by getting involved in such an important campaign. Thanks must go to the incredible ongoing support and generous donations from our passengers, drivers and members of staff.”

Stagecoach West drivers and members of staff will be encouraged to wear a red poppy in the days before Remembrance Sunday, to show their appreciation for the service and sacrifice given by veterans, Armed Forces personnel and their families.
