A COUNCILLOR has suggested that school runs are the cause of Oxford's traffic, not Low Traffic Neighbourhoods.
In a video, posted on Twitter, Oxfordshire County Councillor Tim Bearder, who is the Cabinet Member for Highway Management, showed quiet roads.
Dressed in a high-vis jacket the councillor said: "It's half term week and those '[explicit word removed] LTNs' are ruining the traffic in Oxford.
"Hang on - there is no traffic in Oxford.
"Hmm, half-term, no traffic in Oxford. Is it really the LTNs? The LTN - we only have one LTN."
I recorded the at about 8:30 this morning and the whole of Oxford was like a ghost town. 👻 pic.twitter.com/aOFr0QYlZE

Mr Bearder said he recorded the video at 8.30am on Tuesday morning, stating that the 'whole' of the city 'was like a ghost town'.
The first trial for an LTN was introduced to Church Cowley, Temple Cowley and Florence Park in March 2021.
The consultation is set to end this November.
While some people thoroughly supported the scheme enjoying quieter roads for cycling, and safer streets for children to play in, others have strongly opposed the scheme claiming the scheme has resulted in more congestion and causes increased pollution on the city's arterial roads.
