Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in Botley.
Here’s what we know so far:
- Officers were called to Pinnocks Way at 9.05pm last night
- A man in his 30s died at the scene
- Another man, aged 33, from Oxfordshire, has been arrested on suspicion of murder
- Police have 24 hours to question somebody in custody before they must be released or charged. However, for a serious crime like murder, investigators can apply to hold the suspect for another 24 hours.
- Neighbours say two people lived in the house – one man from Hungary and one from Lithuania
- The victim is thought to be a piano player
- One man said when the incident happened a woman ran out of the house to raise the alarm and emergency services arrived within minutes
- Police have told the victim’s next of kin
- Officers say it is an ‘isolated incident’ with no wider risk to the public
- There will be a scene watch in place on Pinnocks Way and an ‘increased’ police presence in the area
