A CONVICT has escaped from prison, sparking a police hunt across the region.
John Loveridge, aged 36, absconded from HMP Springhill in Buckinghamshire on Sunday.
Thames Valley Police has launched an appeal to find him - and say he could be in the Bicester area.
The 36-year-old, described as a career criminal when he was jailed for 12 vehicle crimes in August 2020, is currently serving a sentence at the open prison.
Police are warning the public not to approach him but to contact them.
He is described as 5ft 8in, of medium build with short, dark hair and a beard.
Loveridge is believed to frequent Biceseter and Daventry.
Police staff investigator Mark Weatherstone, of Aylesbury police station, said: “We are appealing for the help of the public to trace Loveridge.
“If you see him, do not approach him and call 999 instead.
“If you have any information as to he may be you can also call 101 or make a report online quoting 43210426780.
“Alternatively if you wish to remain anonymous, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
