A quiet residental street in Botley has today become the centre of a police murder investigation.
BREAKING: Police have launched a murder investigation
Officers taped off a semi-detached home in Pinnocks Way, and patrol cars were parked outside, with officers standing guard.
One neighbour who lives on the road, and asked not to be named, said police and paramedics were called to the street at about 10.30pm last night.
He said: “There were a lot of police cars and two or three unmarked vans - maybe they were forensics.
“There was also an ambulance and a paramedic’s car.”
He added: “There were two men renting the house, one from Hungary and one from Lithuania, and they had been there a couple of years.
“One of them was a clever bloke who played the piano – I think he was the one who died.
“After it happened a woman ran out of the house and raised the alarm and the police were here very quick.
“I think the guy who did it ran off but the police caught him shortly afterwards.
“The police have been here all night – we are all shocked.”
