A PUBLIC consultation for the new 'quickway' scheme has been extended following a 'supplier delivery issue'.

Last month, Oxfordshire County Council opened the consultation for a new cycle quickway scheme, which would see wider cycle lanes created and more 20mph limits on routes into the city.

If plans are approved it would result in the loss of almost 650 parking spaces on the city’s streets.

The consultation was initially set to end on October 10, however, the council has now said due to a 'supplier delivery issue' the consultation period will be extended until October 31 - to give more people more time to respond.

The extension comes after the council was criticised by residents for not clearly stating that car parking spaces would also be lost from Warneford Lane.

A spokesperson for the council said: "The technical drawings that were published on 20 September as part of the consultation for the Morell Avenue Quickway, included extending into Warneford Lane.

"The estimates for lost parking spaces on the quickway cover both roads."

The digital consultation has now been updated to show that 135 spaces would be lost from both roads.
